Refer patients with varicose veins who have failed a trial of conservative therapy with graded compression stocking and:
lSymptoms (aching, pain, swelling, etc.) that are unresponsive to conservative measures such as graduated compression and exercise lThickening or discoloration of the skin in the ankle region: skin changes suggestive of chronic venous insufficiency lImpending or active ulceration or hemorrhage lDo not refer patients for cosmetic improvement. This is not a covered benefit.
To refer, fill out a MR191 and PA to CCHP for varicose vein sclerosis.
Dr. Mark Isaacs is a family physician who has been practicing phlebology for over 20 years. He has a private practice in Walnut Creek and has treated some of our CCHP patients in his office. Dr. Isaacs does sono guided sclerosing of varicosities. He also does more involved endovascular saphenous vein ablation.
